The children's Halloween party went really well. It's always good to have a lot of happy children come and enjoy themselves at a Halloween party. There were a lot of very nice costumes and very talented pumpkin decorators. All the children were winners for the costume and pumpkin decorating events. And thanks to all the parents for coming down as well. I think everyone had a great time. I can hardly wait for the Christmas party. Don't forget about coming by for Veterans Day (November 11) and enjoy a meal with your fellow Veterans. We'll be starting at 3:00 this year so don't be late. See you there.

We had a pretty good turnout for the 8th District meeting at our Post last weekend. Some good information was passed, see your Commander for details. Well it's getting that time of year again where the kids are back at school and you're getting the home ready for winter, but then what? Well, there is plenty to do at the post and we can always use a hand. Come on down and see what's going on, you'll be glad you did. See you there!

Time flies by when you're busy, before (and since) taking over as the Gambling Manager, I have been very busy. What a way to get started in a new job having to reply to Gambling Control Board's compliance review. I'll be glad when that's over. However, I was able to attend the Department Fall Conference's gambling seminar. I'll take all the training I can get. The rest of the conference was very informative and it looked like everyone had a good time. There was a lot of good information passed so make sure to get with your commander and find out what changes are in store for you.

It has been a busy couple weeks since I last updated the website. You've probably noticed that there is no calendar of events listed on the navigation bar, that's because I'm having issues with the links to get to the calendar pages but it is being worked on.
The Golf Tournament went extremely well. There was a great turnout and everyone had a good time. I will be posting the results soon. Next year the Golf Tournament will be in Mankato so we hope to see you there.

This Thursday will be my last meeting as your commander, it has be a pleasure to serve you and work with you. We have been able to keep the Post busy with a lot of different activities and consistency with the regular scheduled activities. A lot of hard work went into making each activity a success. It couldn't have been done without the hard work and dedication of volunteers like you. Thank you to all the Post and Auxiliary members who consistently volunteer and those who lend a hand when asked. Keep up the good work for the incoming commander as I know you can.

Thanks for your patience in waiting for the next update. I was in the process of updating the 8th District website, I re-designed it and made it more standards compliant. I also added some new features and pages so you'll just have to check it out.
In the process of updating the 8th District website, I found out I couldn't link from one website to the other, so I had to convert our VFW 3979 website to make it compatible. There are a lot of changes that need to made to our VFW website to bring it up to standards compliancy but I was able to get most of the page working to keep you updated on what's going on and so you can also see what's happening in the 8th District as well. I will continue to update all the pages to bring them up to standards and if there are some pages that are inaccessible, please be patient, I'll get to it.

We had a huge turnout for the last 8th District meeting. That's how they should all be. A lot of good information was passed so if you weren't able to make it, come and see me to find out what you missed. And if you are a member of another Post, go see your Commander, chances are very good that he was there. We hope to have as many show up to the Loyalty Day Celebration going in Cook on April 30 to May 2nd. Start your Loyalty Day planning now. Looking forward to seeing you there.
The next time I update this page, I'm going to have to move the commercial videos to another page. Or should I move them to a different location on this page? Or should I put them on multiple pages? Let me know what you think should be done with them. They are good, short commercials and are useful tools in recruiting new members, so tell me your thoughts on where you'd like to see them.

Hope everyone's holidays were enjoyable and without incident. May the new year bring you joy, good health and prosperity. Last year the Department of Minnesota Veterans of Foreign Wars put together a few short video commercials with the help of our local cable provider Mediacom. Mediacom has them considered as VFW Public Service Announcements. Here are the 3 they have. If you need to see them in full screen, after clicking the play button, double click over video. (The videos are now located on the Join the VFW page.
